Manteca’s Cheyenne Milligan will fulfill one more musical goal as she takes center field at Candlestick Park to sing the National Anthem tonight for her dad’s favorite team — the San Francisco 49ers — as they take on the Denver Broncos tonight in the pre-season opener of the 2009 football season.

Cheyenne was selected as a finalist from hundreds of applications and audition tapes, She then participated in a live audition  held at Candlestick Park on Wednesday, July 14, along with 28 other hopefuls in a diverse group that included a male quintet, two female trios, a violinist and 23 other soloists. She was selected for the callback group of 10 to audition a second time, but didn’t find out until the next day when she received the phone call that she had been chosen to perform the anthem at the 49ers/Denver football game.

Currently serving as Golden State Teen Ambassadress with Youth Focus of San Jose, and a member of the Manteca Youth Focus entertainers, Cheyenne is a popular performer around Manteca at local events such as the Manteca Pumpkin Fair, Manteca Street Fair, Art in the Park, and the Manteca 4th of July Celebration just to name just a few. Recently she was honored to have been voted Best of Manteca 2009 – Female Vocalist.

Cheyenne has also performed her classic version of the anthem throughout the year at events such as a Sacramento Kings basketball game, Stockton Ports minor league baseball games, California Cougars Indoor Soccer game, the Best of Manteca awards celebration, Manteca Sports Hall of Fame gala dinners, Golden State Karate Association tournaments, the Stockton 99 Speedway races, and for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life opening ceremony, as well as singing during the “Survivors’ Lap” in 2008 and 2009.

Having turned 16 years old last Friday, Cheyenne just entered her sophomore year at Sierra High School where she participates in the choir. She earned a place on the San Joaquin County Honor Choir during  freshman year, performed the role of “Sour Kangaroo“ in the musical “Suessical, the Musical“, and portrayed “Hannah Montana“ in Sierra High School‘s Lobo Gold Rally as well as performing the Anthem at various games last year. She is also a member of Sierra’s Valley Oak League championship girls swim team.

The game is scheduled to be broadcast locally on the CBS affiliate KOVR-13 and on the NFL Channel.
