Registered Nurse, Guided Imagery Practitioner, speaker and author of Wisdom To Wellness, Maureen Minnehan-Jones of Oakdale is a health care professional who practices what she preaches because she knows integrative medicine works.

A blending of Western philosophies and holistic remedies, integrative medicine is fast becoming the new buzzword in the world of health of wellness, and this is something Minnehan-Jones has been advocating since using such techniques to heal her own ailments 16 years ago.

As detailed in her book and explained on her website, Minnehan-Jones use a powerful technique that she invented called the MO (Modus Operandi) Technique that honors and taps into the soul wisdom so that the emotional sufferings, or blocks of the ego, may be transformed into personal power, love and knowledge that may help the physical body to heal. This technique incorporates chakra balancing, which balances the body and removes blockages. Each chakra, or energy center, has an emotional and spiritual issue that affects its proper functioning. The technique removes the block wall of fear which helps release the human consciousness and allows an individual to tap into their soul consciousness or their truth. Through interactive guided imagery, this technique helps remove the negative emotional sufferings from the subconscious mind, instills positive emotions back into the super conscious mind (soul) and reprograms the conscious mind for 40 days so it becomes a habit. Minnehan-Jones believes it is this reprogramming of the three minds that is the key to making a lasting change.

“We are emotional beings,” Minnehan-Jones explained. “We need to pay attention to what’s going on in our lives…people blame stress for their conditions but we need to go in and find out where the stress is coming from and delve into the root cause to find the emotional peace.”

Minnehan-Jones believes that when the body sends out a negative response, i.e. aches and pains or inflammatory response, it’s actually a message with the key necessary to heal the ailment.

“What is the message the body is trying to tell you?” Minnehan-Jones asked. “Emotional blocks can create physical ailments.”

While Europe has been using integrative medicine for some time, the United States is just now starting to come around and the change has been met with relief by many who’ve been using these techniques for better health.

“I definitely feel things are starting to turn around,” Minnehan-Jones said. “Integrative medicine works in tandem with Western medicine. The emotional element is one of the missing pieces.”

Often, Minnehan-Jones’ patients seek her out when all else has failed and frustration or depression has set in.

“Usually, the patients are ready to try something different when they come to see me,” she said.

And when a patient experiences success — such as two different patients who found relief from their gluten intolerance and fibromyalgia — the reward goes beyond the satisfaction of a job well done.

“The key is to tend to our relationships with compassion,” she said.

Clients include individuals who are dealing with disease and health challenges and are from all walks of life and every age group, though Minnehan-Jones advises all patients to consult with their physician to ensure self-healing methods are compatible with current treatment.

Minnehan-Jones works with all diseases and symptoms including Alzheimer’s disease, AIDS, all cancers, chronic fatigue, lupus, fibromyalgia, baldness, arthritis, allergies and sinus problems, migraine, asthma, Hepatitis C, menopause problems, infertility, heart problems, Multiple Sclerosis, Lou Gehrig’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.
