VENTURA  (AP) — Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man suspected of illegally practicing dentistry out of his apartment.

The Los Angeles Times reports 40-year-old William Escobar of Moorpark furnished his apartment with a dental chair, tools, anesthetics, false teeth and drugs in an elaborate illegal dental operation.

Sheriff’s investigators said they found a bathroom converted into a dental office where they believed Escobar treated numerous people for dental problems and provided orthodontic care to teenagers. They said Escobar was not licensed with the California Dental Board.

Authorities investigated after a patient complained to police that Escobar allegedly made threats over nonpayment of a bill for a cleaning and examination.
