REPORT ON FATAL MODESTO EVICTION SHOOTING DELAYED: MODESTO  (AP) — An independent report into the fatal shootings of a Stanislaus County Sheriff's deputy and a locksmith while serving an eviction notice has been delayed.

Sheriff Adam Christianson said Thursday a team of outside investigators need more time before publicly unveiling their findings.

He said the report could be completed by February.

Christianson says federal criminologists working separately from the independent probe also have not yet determined how a fire started following a tense 11-hour standoff with the shooter.

Deputy Bob Paris and locksmith Glendon Engert were shot and killed on April 12 after going to the Modesto home of James Ferrario to evict him five days after a notice was posted.

Authorties say Ferrario eventually set the building on fire and shot himself.
