Quilt show at Modesto Centre Plaza Jan. 19-20

MODESTO — Country Crossroads Quilt Guild of Modesto is presenting the 2013 “Heart of the Valley” Quilts and Textile Arts Show, Saturday, Jan. 19 and Sunday, Jan. 20, at Modesto Centre Plaza, 10th and K Street in Downtown Modesto.

The central valley’s largest quilt show will feature quilts, wearables, vendor displays and merchandise, demonstrations and more.

Featured quilt artists will be award winning quilters Kay Hawkins and Sue Schlange.

Special Exhibits at this year’s show are “Doors of Modesto” and “Color Wheel Challenge.”

Refreshments will be available and door prize drawings held throughout the show. The fun will culminate on Sunday afternoon with a drawing to win a hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind quilt designed by members of CCQ.

The Raffle Quilt, Phantasy Garden, made by members of CCQ, showcases modern and traditional quilting techniques including piecework, needle turn appliqué, and extensive machine quilting by Herd of Turtles Quilting.

Tickets to win this quilt can be purchased in advance from any guild member, ordered by mail through the website, or purchased at the door during the show.

Quilt show entry will be $7 general admission and children under 12 free. Show hours are Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
