Delmar Otten receiving council kudos tonight

Delmar Otten will be honored at tonight’s Ripon City Council meeting.

He’ll be recognized by incoming Mayor Dean Uecker for his years of service on the Senior Commission with a proclamation at the 7 o’clock session at Ripon City Hall Council Chamber, 259 N. Wilma Ave.

Otten, who has served on the commission since 2005, has been active in the many programs offered at the Ripon Senior Center, according to the proclamation.

He’s also a proven leader in making the center what it is today.

In other agenda items:

•Mayor Uecker, as one of his first official duty on the top seat, will make the appointments for council representatives on standing committees.

•Council is expected to reappoint Rod Wright (Recreation Commission); Mark Winchell, Navid Fardanesh, and David Collins (Planning Commission); John Mangelos and Don Schaapman (Museum Commission); and Joan Flowers (Senior Commission) for four-year terms each.

•Elected leaders are scheduled to approve the rental agreements for the Ripon Community Center and the recently renovated Stouffer Hall.

•They’re also on tap to discuss the San Joaquin River National Wildlife Refuge proposed expansion letter, calling for adding 1,150 acres to the Ripon General Plan Boundaries.
