Ken Hafer is looking for people who enjoy “old-time” fun as a volunteer.

All it takes is an interest in history and a minimum of three hours each month volunteering at the Manteca Historical Society Museum at 600 W. Yosemite Ave.

“We’re looking for more docents as well as volunteers to help with other tasks,” Hafer said.

An orientation workshop is planned for this Saturday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m. at the museum. The gathering is planned for both current and potential volunteers.

There is a need for docents to help share information about the collection with visitors as well as receptionists, clerical work, the researching and cataloguing of museum items, caring for vintage clothing, keeping farm equipment displays in shape, and assisting with general maintenance of the buildings and grounds.

The informal gathering may be followed up with scheduled training sessions.

For more information contact either Phyllis Abram at 239-0744 or Hafer at 823-1929.

Docent work calendars will be handed out and refreshments will be served.
