It wasn’t Sierra High’s easiest win, but it kept the club perfect.

The Timberwolves shook off a sluggish start, holding off the host Lathrop Spartans for a five-point Valley Oak League win Thursday.

Tanner Peterson had the hot hand for Sierra (6-0 VOL, 14-0 overall), connecting for 17 points including three 3-pointers. Brian Terrell added 14 and Daniel Wyatt finished in double-figures with 10.

Sierra will try and remain perfect Saturday when they make the trip to Oakdale to meet the Mustangs.

Manteca 58, Oakdale 34

The Buffaloes had little trouble disposing of the host Mustangs, handling Oakdale by 24 Thursday.

Frankie Lopez had a huge outing for Manteca (3-3, 9-7) hitting for 23 points, while teammates Angel Perez and Ray Gallardo chipped in with seven and six, respectively.

The Buffaloes will be back on the court Saturday when they host the Lathrop Spartans.

East Union 46, Sonora 37

The Lancers found a way to keep pace with the upper-crust of the VOL, beating Sonora for their fifth win on the VOL schedule.

Malik Thomas and Eric Flores led the Lancers with 10 points apiece and teammate Kevin Jacobson chipped in with eight.

East Union (5-1, 12-4) will try and continue its winning streak Saturday at Kimball High.
