Richard (Dick) Watson was a beloved husband, loving father and grandfather, and caring brother and uncle.

Born in Mazatlan, Mexico, the first son of Wilmeth and Consuelo Watson, he was raised in Alameda, and later lived in Hayward, Tracy and Manteca.

Richard served four years in the Merchant Marine, entering at age 15, and four years in the US Navy, finishing as a Boatswain’s mate second class. He liked to tell stories about his time at sea and during the occupation of Japan after World War II. He enjoyed a thirty-five year career in Oakland and Tracy with Owens- Brockway Glass Company, retiring in 1983 as a quality control supervisor.

He loved bowling, golf and fishing with his sons. The highlights of his married life were spending holidays and numerous vacations in Puerto Vallarta with his wife and family. He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.

Survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Letha, he was blessed with seven children and their spouses: four daughters, Vicki (Marianne), Laura (Bill), Aleta (John), Jennifer (John), and three sons, Michael (Libby), John (Vera) and Jeff (Sveta). He dearly loved his twelve grandchildren, Callie, Giulia, Alanna (Noah), Flavia, Kaila, Nick, Karli, Shane, Jacquelyn, Chelsey, Selena and Kyle. He is also survived by his siblings, Irene, Joseph, John and Gloria.

Dick passed peacefully in his sleep, after fighting valiantly through a series of setbacks in the past few years. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in the name of Richard Watson to Second Harvest Food Bank, 704 Industrial Park Dr, Manteca, CA 95337.
