LODI – Fast becoming California’s new Wine Country, Lodi is a major destination for wine lovers.

Lodi has emerged as one of the world’s most recognized regions for high quality grape and wine production.

Visitors can get a special look at Lodi on Sunday, April 28, as select Lodi wineries, many award-winning, participate in the second annual Spring of The Vine (SOTV) event being held on the grounds of Wine & Roses Hotel• Restaurant• Spa.

Le Printemps des vins Spring of The Vine, an event with French roots, will focus on the new light releases of the season: whites, light reds, and rosés. Lodi winemakers will be more than happy to spend time chatting about their wines at this intimate tasting event. “This is a day about discovery as you taste wines and share passion and surprise with the winemakers themselves,” explains Wine & Roses owner, Russ Munson.

SOTV will also feature The Ike and Martin Band, a super-charged acoustic rock group playing modern classic pop music, exquisite cuisine displays with action chefs offered throughout the event, and of course visitors will enjoy strolling through the beautiful grounds of Wine & Roses. New to this year’s event is an artist showcase featuring local area artist Alex Akore, who will illustrate a piece during the tasting event for auction at the SOTV dinner.

“We’re thrilled to host this event and to give our guests the chance to experience the new release light wines of the season on our grounds.” said Heather Reagan, Director of Sales & Marketing for Wine & Roses.  “We look forward to the event generating momentum each year as more people are attracted to not only to discovering the incredible wines that Lodi has to offer, but also to Lodi as a destination area.”

Also new to the event this year, guests can purchase tickets to the Spring of The Vine Dinner, a family style dinner setting in which guests can interact with the winemakers and wineries themselves. The menu for the dinner showcases fun, fresh, seasonal cuisine created exclusively to pair with the featured SOTV wines as well as winemaker’s favored wine selections.

The event will be held from 2 to 5.p.m. on Sunday, April 28, at Wine & Roses, located at 2505 West Turner Road in Lodi. Tickets are $35 in advance for the Wine Tasting event, and $5 for the Spring of The Vine Dinner, or $105  for the wine tasting event and dinner, and can be purchased by calling 209.371.6117 or visiting the Sales ticket office. Tickets will be $45 at the door for the wine tasting event, if available.

Lodi boasts approximately 750 winegrape growers, 100,000 acres of vineyards- more than Napa and Sonoma combined, and more than 70 wineries.  Lodi leads all other California wine districts in the production of the top five wine varietals- Cabernet Sauvignon, merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Zinfandel.

Originally a residential home, Wine & Roses opened as a Bed & Breakfast with 11 rooms in 1988.  In 1997, present owners Russ & Kathryn Munson became managing partners and began expansion to create Wine & Roses Hotel, Restaurant, Spa- which today features award-winning hotel accommodations, dining, spa services, weddings, meetings, acclaimed landscape design, and Special Events.  For more information, you can contact Wine & Roses at 209.334.6988 or find us at www.winerose.com
