So why aren’t they called ‘assault’ rifles?

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,

In regard to your Associated Press story dated Jan. 23, 2013, “Fontana schools get high-powered rifle”, it should have read “Fontana schools get so-called assault rifles”  but, being the leftist media with a agenda, it went with the former.

It is amazing how the leftist media could write such a informative article on the high powered rifle for the school police, but call it an “assault” (media made up term for any ugly or scary military, look-a-like weapon) rifle when I have it.

The rifle in question, the Colt LE6940 rifle can be viewed at: http://www.colt.com/ColtLawEnforcement/Products/ColtAdvancedLawEnforcementCarbine.aspx

It is weapon that I, as a citizen of this state, cannot own as it has components that are banned for ordinary law abiding citizens.  Things like flash hider, pistol grip, magazines that are detachable and hold more than ten rounds and ... it fires (quote from article) “ammunition that ricochets, goes right through people” and “can pierce body armor” ......... wow!  And they say, it does look pretty fierce but they have to keep up with what’s going around.

Now, if I was to own that or say the same thing, I’m a evil NRA Assault gun nut. Leftist hypocrisy, don’t do as I do, do as I say, at play here.

By the way, There is no such thing as an "assault" rifle. This is a term invented by leftist media to scare people with.  Anything, including your body parts, can be termed as assault weapons, when used to attack another person.

One more thought on evil assault guns and crime, recent FBI crime data show that hammers and clubs have been used to kill more people for the past several years than all types of rifles.  Guns, hammers and clubs do not kill, people do.

I wish the leftist media would wage such a war on drunk drivers, abortion and inner city gangs, as they are on law abiding gun owners.

I’m an  NRA Life Member and proud of it.
