Manteca native Pete Duenas is among four of the newest members of the Amateur Softball Association’s Greater San Joaquin Hall of Fame.

He was joined by Ron Vollstedt of Stockton, Jeff Harris of Lodi and Mike Nevin of Danville during the induction ceremony held Jan. 12 at the Lodi Grape Festival Fairgrounds.

Also recognized were: 2011 50-and-over men’s fastpitch national champion Air Tronics, 13 umpires who were selected to be part of the 2012 national championships and retired JO Commissioner Dan Smiley. In addition, the city of Turlock was presented James Farrell Award for hosting the highest-rated national tournament — the girls 16- and 18-under Western Nationals — in the country.

Duenas competed in 19 ASA National Championships, six International Softball Congress world championships and four Olympic Festivals. He was part of seven ASA national championship clubs, is an eight-time ASA All-American and was named MVP for Manteca-based Tubbs and Sons Electric in the 1986 ASA National “B” Championships. Duenas has also played with Masters-level teams that have won multiple national titles.
