Bethany Home held its Annual Society Meeting last week at the Calvary Reformed Church, but it was more of a celebration than a meeting.

Although the business items were transacted in efficient style, the décor and atmosphere made it feel different this year.

In the corner of the auditorium stood a beautifully crafted sculpture, measuring 9 feet (high) and 16 feet (wide) of Bethany Home’s 50th anniversary logo.  On each table was a three-tier desert center piece, loaded with a variety of delicious sweets. The musical group known as Eternal Praise (Gary & Rachel Dutter and family) graced the stage, blessing those in attendance with several gospel songs throughout the evening.  The events of the night were the official launch of the Anniversary Year, 2013, as Bethany Home celebrates 50 years since opening its doors in service to the elderly.

Business of the evening included recognition of retiring Board members Ralph Sikkema and Leanne Bartels.  Elected into office for the first time were Marv Van Groningen from the Calvary Reformed Church, and Lenneke Bulk from the Christian Reformed Church in Oakdale.

The evening event offered thanksgiving to God for another year of successfully meeting the needs of area seniors.  All who attended were invited to actively support the other celebratory events coming up in 2013, including the opportunity to help Bethany Home grow its Foundation by contributing to its endowment fund.
