For some it’s the Super Bowl party at home or at a friend’s house that serves as the perfect backdrop for watching the biggest sports event of the year.

For others it’s their favorite watering hole.

And as a result local bar owners are gearing up for the crush of San Francisco 49ers fans that they expect to descend upon their establishments come Sunday when the team tries for its sixth Super Bowl ring.

“We’re expecting a big day,” said Rooster Juice owner Suzanne Forsberg. “We were busy for the NFC Championship game, and this is going to be even bigger than that – we’ve got some things that we’re going to do throughout the day.”

Forsberg said that she’ll throw open the doors at 10 a.m. to offer a Bloody Mary bar, and will serve up free fajitas come game time – tossing in door prizes to spice things up.

The bar has six flat-screen high-definition televisions they’ll show the game on.

Across town at Rookie’s Sports Bar a huge party with drink specials – $3 kamikazes, $1 Jell-O shots and $4 margaritas – will get underway at 1 p.m. A raffle will be held for football jerseys as well as the best seats in the house – positioned right in front of the massive big-screens that the bar is famous for.

But they’re not the only place offering a big-screen experience for the big game.

Chez Shari will once again be holding their annual Super Bowl party with free food for those who purchase a drink at the bar – a spread that will include hot dogs and hot links, chicken sandwiches and hors d’oeurves such as salami and cheese.

An HD projector will display the game on a 10-foot screen against the wall, augmenting the multiple televisions already positioned throughout the bar.

If it’s an all-out event that you’re looking for, Chuck’s Place – which recently relocated from its corner location on Oak Street to an expansive space in Spreckels Park – is planning a Super Bowl blowout for fans.

A raffle is planned for every quarter with prizes including beer, food and alcohol in addition to neon signs and gift certificates. Drink specials will change by quarter and will include $1 domestic drafts and $2 import drafts for the first quarter and $10 Coors Light pitchers for the fourth quarter.

Meatball subs will be available for $6 and deep fried raviolis will be served up for $5.
