If you’re a fashion nut then Ripon High’s multi-purpose room is the place to be Thursday for the Almond Blossom Fashion Show.

And for the six Almond Queen hopefuls – Alyssa Drennan, Anna Fassler, Lauren Van Till, Morgan Scott, Gralyn Pope, and Michaela Ratto – it’ll be one more chance to leave a lasting impression on the judges prior to the annual Coronation Ceremony on Feb. 21.

“It’s the most fun thing that we get to do together,” said Pope while out with her fellow contestants picking out outfits from the event sponsors. “It’s like one giant girls day out shopping – and we all get cute stuff.

“It’s a shopping spree where you get to pick out anything that you want but you don’t have to spend any money. It’s great.”

As the lone holdover from last year’s competition, Pope said she has the added benefit of knowing a little bit about what it takes to step out onto the catwalk and make the turn at the end of the runway.

What seems like the most natural part of the event, Pope said, is actually one of the most confusing. And she’s hoping that her previous experience will make things a little bit easier for her new group of friends.

“Knowing how fast to walk is something that I’m glad I know this year,” she said. “They told us to go slow last year, and to take our time, but nobody really told us how slow to go.

“I don’t have to worry about that this year.”

Five major sponsors have emerged this year to make the fashion show possible – Blush Boutique, Dress Barn, Rossini’s Fine Menswear, Ragamuffin and Tractor Supply Company.

Fun, however, is still the name of the game.

“I’m just looking forward to having a great time with all of the ladies,” said queen hopeful Morgan Scott. “All of the girls go together to pick out the clothes and it has been really, really great.

“It’s the most fun that I’ve had so far.”
