RIPON – The Ripon Christian boys basketball squad had a chance to work on some of the little things against Delhi.

In the 61-18 Southern League rout over visiting Delhi, the Knights went about their business while polishing up on their half-court offense in the process.

“We had struggled on that part of our game,” said RC coach Ron Vander Molen.

With point guard Dan Vos as the facilitator, the Knights jumped out to a 23-7 first-quarter lead.

Nine of RC’s 10 players, as a result, contributed to the offense led by freshman Travis Vander Molen and Clayton Blankers, who tallied 15 and 12 points, respectively,

The first-place Knights (12-0, 20-4) also dominated the boards, limiting Delhi (6-6, 11-14) to one-shot per possession and, on the other end of the court, getting multiple shot attempts.

In the third, Blankers, for example, scored twice on put-back shots. “He did a good job today,” said the RC coach.

Vos had a pair of steals and triggered a pair of fast-break baskets by Jon Vander Molen, who netted 10 points.

“Our defense has been real consistent all year,” Ron Vander Molen said.

The Knights led 33-10 at the intermission and showed no indication of letting up in the second half.

By the time coach Vander Molen finally took out his starters late in their third, RC had a sizeable 51-15 advantage.

The Hawks, offensively, managed five points each from Antonio Gonzalez and Ivan Perez.

For RC, Danny Vander Molen and Dalton Koslosky both added six, and Austin Alger and Eric Broker had four each.
