RIPON — Up 59-37 with five and a half minutes left in the fourth, Ripon weathered a furious 17-2 Calaveras run down the stretch to pull out a 67-56 win.

The Redskins hit 12 3-pointers, including five during the late run.

“It was one of those runs you love as a coach,” Ripon head coach Rod Wright said, tongue planted firmly in cheek.

Matt Ratto led the way for the Indians with 19 points and four steals, while Dane Wells had 16 and seven rebounds.

Ryan Baker finished with 10, and Efren Sifuentes had 14 and four steals.

“We were very patient on offense tonight,” Wright said. “We moved the ball around and got open shots.”

Ripon outscored Calaveras 24-14 in the third quarter.

Sifuentes had 10 in the frame and Wells eight in the fourth.

The Indians moved to 8-8 with the win, while the Redskins slipped to 9-5.

Ripon travels to Bret Harte Friday.

Amador 63, Ripon Christian 62

Quinton Tremely hit a 3-pointer with eight seconds left as Amador stole a win from Ripon Christian.

Tyler Goslinga finished with 17 points, Will Heersink had 12, and Daniel Van De Pol contributed 10.

“Amador hit two three’s to close out the game,” RC head coach Ron Vander Molen said. “I thought we played well despite losing. (Our effort) wasn’t why we lost, the guys who came off the bench did a solid job.”

RC slipped to 8-7 with the loss and will visit Argonaut Friday.

Down 18-2 to start the contest, the Indians found the sledding too difficult from there on out.

Skye Dominguez finished with 23, Kendra Contente had nine, and both Jessica Blythe and Laulina Ceja had six.

“We dug ourselves a huge hole,” Ripon head coach George Contente said. “We made a game of it for three quarters, but that first quarter just killed us.”

Ripon (6-9 overall) hosts Bret Harte Friday.
