Buffaloes swept in first loss

The Manteca sophomore volleyball team fell for the first time this season, 9-25, 21-25, to Enochs at home Tuesday night.

Jessica Reeder had 10 assists, and Jessica Howard had four digs.

Breanne Hatfield turned in six service points and two aces, while Jimi Guibor had three kills and six blocks, and Myklynn Balmut had four kills.

Manteca slipped to 1-1 in preseason play.

East Union 2, Gustine 0

The Lancers came from behind to capture Game 2 in a 25-15, 27-25 sweep of Gustine at Dalben Center.

Alexis Steele had six aces and two blocks, while Aliysa Hoffman had three kills, and Kristen Piasecki turned in three assists.

EU (2-0) hosts Livingston tonight.

Weston Ranch 2, Stagg 1

The Cougars looked good in a competitive 24-26, 25-16, 15-9 win.

In Los Banos, the Buffaloes tattooed the Tigers behind Niko Gonzalez’s hat trick.

Giovanni Marin, Isaac Jiminez and Charlton Shankar all found net as well, and Oral Nunis set up a pair of scores.

Manteca (2-0) takes on Escalon next week.
