MODESTO - The Modesto Junior College Civic Engagement Project Film & Lecture Series will offer a free showing of the film “Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide” on Thursday, March 7, at 7 p.m. in Forum 110 on East Campus.
The presentation is free, open to the public and will be followed by a discussion. Campus parking passes are $1 and can be obtained at various ticket dispensers located in the student parking lots.
The film highlights the oppression of women and girls in various countries with a focus on sex slavery and trafficking, violence and rape. It emphasizes the importance of education and female empowerment as a means to end gender inequality.
