A Manteca female with life threatening injuries from a gunshot wound was airlifted out of Manteca at around 12:45 a.m. today and taken to a trauma center.

The shooting occurred before midnight in the 800 block of El Dorado Street located just to the northwest of Sequoia School off of Locust Avenue in South Central Manteca.

Numerous police units, Manteca Fire and two Manteca District Ambulances converged on the usually quite neighborhood of 1970s era tract homes. The house was cordoned off and an active crime scene investigation was underway early this morning.

The commotion of the REACH air ambulance helicopter landing at Sequoia School brought dozens of people out of their homes to see what was going on. Manteca Ambulance and fire transported the shooting victim from the home several blocks to the school playground where the helicopter landed. It took off shortly after 12:40 a.m.

No further details of the shooting or the name of the victim was available as of press time.
