Elected leaders will give it another go at amending the part of the ordinance that relates to any increase in the cost of their health benefits.

At Tuesday’s Ripon City Council, they’ll consider approving this and other agenda items during the 7 p.m. open session at the Council Chambers, 259 N. Wilma Ave.

The compensation package for those members receiving them – Vice Mayor Chuck Winn and Councilman Leo Zuber opted against getting the perks – is based on population. City attorney Tom Terpstra requested at the previous meeting that this item be pulled for clarification.

Changes now include “any raises (as specified in the section of the California Government Code) must be approved by vote of the City Council at a public meeting; any increase in cost of health benefits must be approved by the City Council at a public meeting.”

Another part of the ordinance was that of reorganization of council seating.

This change specifies that “reorganization of Council seats shall take place at the first meeting in December during non-election years, and during election years, the reorganization of Council seats shall take place after election results are certified.”

In other agenda items:

• Mark Ferguson, plant manager of Diamond Pet Foods, is scheduled to provide information on how his staff is working to correct the odor problem coming from the facility.

• Jessica Coleman of “Color the Skies” hot air balloon festival held annually during the Labor Day weekend is on tap to request a rental fee waiver on use of Mistlin Park for this year (2013) and next year (2014).

• Council could accept the City of Ripon Transportation Development Act fund, the Measure K fund, and Transit Enterprise fund audit report for June 30, 2012, and June 30, 2011.
