INTERSECTION CRASH KILLS ONE IN TURLOCK: TURLOCK . - One person was killed and two others injured in a wreck between a Cadillac Escalade and a Nissan Sentra in a Turlock intersection at 8:57 p.m. on Tuesday.

Officer Mayra Lewis of the Turlock Police Department said a woman driving the Escalade westbound on W. Monte Vista Avenue and had a green light at the intersection of N. Walnut Rd. At the same time, the Sentra, traveling eastboundon W. Monte Vista Ave., turned left on a circular green light in the path of the Cadillac and was broadsided.

The 19-year-old man driving the car sustained non-life threatening injuries. A 23-year-old man in the front passenger seat sustained major, but non-life threatening injuries. A 17-year-old boy in the back seat sustained life-threatening injuries to the head. All three people in the Sentra were transported to a nearby hospital, where the 17 year old succumbed to his injuries, said Lewis.

The occupants of the Cadillac did not sustain any injuries, Lewis said.

According to Lewis, neither drugs, alcohol, nor speed appeared to be a factor in the collision.

MAN DIES IN SOLO MODESTO CRASH: MODESTO  - An autopsy may reveal why a 31-year-old Modesto man suddenly veered off the road and smashed into a traffic light and concrete wall Tuesday night.  

The impact sent the driver partially through the windshield. He was taken to Doctors Medical Center with major injuries but did not survive, says the California Highway Patrol.

The man's name has not been released.

The CHP says the crash took place at 10:58 p.m. The man was driving a 1995 Chevrolet eastbound on Woodland Avenue east of Lone Palm Avenue. It wasn't known how fast he was going. Suddenly, the driver turned to the right into the curb and vegetation. The car proceeded out of control in a southeasterly direction into the Woodland and Graphics Drive intersection where it finally stopped after hitting the traffic signal and wall on the southeast corner.

The CHP said the driver was not wearing a seat belt.
