A banner season for Ripon Christian boys and girls basketball produced two more awards.

Point guards Danny Vos and Teagan Manus were recently named the Southern League’s most valuable players, in a vote of the league’s coaches.

Both varsity programs captured Southern League crowns and reached the CIF Northern California regional tournament.

The boys went 14-0 in conference play, while the girls shared the title with Turlock Christian at 13-1.

It is Vos’ second straight player of the year award. The Dordt College-bound senior led the Sac-Joaquin Section in assists at 7.5 per game and boasted a 4-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio, ignoring the lingering pain in his knee.

Manus was a surprise selection, if only because the headlines and Southern League spotlight have long belonged to Turlock Christian senior Halie Bergman.

Manus’ overall game swayed the voting.

The junior led the Knights in scoring, assists and steals, becoming the program’s first league MVP in 11 years.
