STOCKTON MAKES WEAPON ARRESTS: STOCKTON - Stockton Police officers continued their strong efforts to fighting crime in 2013, arresting three individuals on weapons charges within a seven-hour span on Thursday.
According to Stockton Police Department reports, the first arrest came at 2:28 p.m. at Ralph Avenue and Airport Way. Officers conducted a traffic stop, and after gaining consent to search, located a loaded weapon on Manuel Martinez, 27. Martinez also had an additional loaded magazine in his pocket, said police.
Martinez was arrested on weapons charges.
Less than three hours later at 5:19 p.m., Community Response Team officers and officers from the San Joaquin County Wide Multi-Agency Gang Taskforce conducted a traffic stop at Bianchi Rd. and Hillsborough Wy. During the stop, a large amount of crystal methamphetamine and a loaded handgun were found in the car. Antonio Shannon, 32, was arrested at the scene on weapons and drug charges.
The last arrest occurred at 9:13 p.m. in the area of Woodchase Ln. and Henry Long Blvd. According to police, officers were dispatched to a call of a suspicious vehicle, and upon arrival, made contact with parolee Freddie Rubio, 38, who was in possession of a loaded handgun. He was arrested on weapons charges.
DRIVE-BY SHOOTING INJURES 4 in MODESTO: MODESTO (AP) — Modesto police say four people were wounded, one critically, in a drive-by shooting on the city's west side.
The shooting occurred just after 8 p.m. Thursday. The victims — three men and a woman — were standing in front of a home when one or more suspects drove by and opened fire.
Three of the victims' wounds were considered non-life-threatening, while the fourth was shot multiple times and was in critical condition. Police have not identified the suspect or suspects or released a possible motive.
