MODESTO –The Modesto Area Partners in Science (MAPS) will offer a presentation by Dr. Carol Stoker, NASA , speaking on “The Search for Life on Mars: What have we learned and what should we do next?” on Friday, March 29, at 7:30 p.m. in Forum 110 at Modesto Junior College, 435 College Ave..
Stoker is a staff planetary scientist at NASA Ames Research Center. She is actively involved in the robotic exploration of Mars and in planning for future human exploration. Among other missions, she was a co-investigator on the Mars Phoenix mission that performed sampling near the north pole of Mars to search for habitable environments for life. Stoker also leads activities to develop and test drilling systems to access the Martian subsurface to search for evidence of life.
