More than 150 children from Ripon Christian’s kindergarten to third grade classes are will entertain their families and friends tonight at the Ripon Christian Schools’ Performing Center at 7:30 p.m. under the direction of their music instructor Pam Huisken who doubles as a kindergarten teacher.

“She teaches these children to learn and to appreciate music like nothing I have ever seen,” said one mother, Audrey Keast, who has a daughter in third grade.  “You have taught our children to love music,” she said to Huisken.

Another RC mom, Vicky Eddy, said the two children, including her seven-year-old son David, both sing all the time when they are at home and out in public.  She agreed Mrs. Huisken is “fantastic” at what she does.

The theme for the night’s entertainment is “Our Country, Our Music, A Celebration of America.”

“We are singing songs like Colonel Bogey’s Grand Old Flag, and How I love America,” Huisken added.   The children are known to sing with emotion as they demonstrate their vocal abilities to their parents and grandparents.  She added that being both a kindergarten and music teacher “is a good fit for me.”  The teacher had an early attraction to music, learning to play the piano in the second grade.

The musical performance will be a nightcap to an open house in the primary classrooms that begins at 6 and winds up at 7:15.  Parents are asked to have their children dressed in church clothes attire for the presentation.   For the boys it’s nice slacks and a collared shirt.  For the girls a skirt or dress is recommended.

Thursday at 9 a.m. Grandparents Day is set to be held in the new gym, also in the Performing Arts Center.
