Editor, Manteca Bulletin,

The Tuff Boy companies have appreciated your recent editorials regarding lawsuit abuse.

In particular, the articles are relevant in view of Tuff Boy’s recent invitation to attend seminars sponsored by Californians Against Lawsuit Abuse (CALA) and by Civil Justice Association of California (CJAC).

The March 13 seminar included a day at the Capitol in Sacramento, with many attendees visiting with legislative staff in order to set forth problems related to frivolous lawsuits and tort reform.

Lawsuit horror stories were in abundance. Simply stated, California is not showing signs of being business friendly. In fact, the opposite is evident.

Case in point: The recent announcement from Modesto’s Post Cereal Plant that it will soon close costing 40 jobs. One of the reasons cited are environmental (EIR) issues.

The members of CALA and CJAC would appreciate public support as to the issue of lawsuit abuse.

Please write your legislators: Senator Cathleen Galgiani State Capitol Room 4082 Sacramento, CA 95814 and Assembly member Kristin Olsen P.O. Box 942849 Sacramento, CA 94249-0025.
