The Ripon Planning Commission will look at a major site review tonight from Ripon Christian High School regarding a request to modify the existing sports complex.

The Knights share nearby Stouffer Field with host Ripon High during football season. RC, according to the Planning Commission agenda, is looking to turn its existing field into an updated sports facility that’s capable of accommodating both soccer and football.

The planning session will take place at Ripon City Hall, 259 Wilma Ave., at 7 p.m.

Commissioners are John Heida, David Collins, Kevin Hawes, Brinton McCusker, March Winchell and Navid Fardanesh. They’re also scheduled to look at general planning.

The big item for the group is discussing the estimated 3.65 acres at 435 Maple Ave. That’s the site where Ripon Christian hopes to install brand-new elevated bleachers for both home and visitors side of the field along with constructing restrooms and snack facilities.

The Knights host soccer matches there but with limited bleacher seating on just the home side of the field.

Meanwhile, the football program under Randy Fasani and James Vander Schaaf experienced a turnaround in recent years, reaching the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs during the past two seasons.

In 2012, RC captured a share of the Southern League title but fell to eventual champ, Foresthill, in the second round of Division VI playoffs.
