Several years ago, students in Sam Dolson’s Architectural Design displayed plans to revamp the Dawson Center.

A year later, the outdoor area of the cafeteria took on its current look. Gone was the wall that separated the quad from the adjacent classroom wing. In its place was open space that included more tables coupled with green umbrellas that expanded to the western corridor.

Prior to that, the conceptual drawings of the plan were featured at the Day of the Arts.

This year’s Day of the Arts is scheduled for Thursday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Winter Gym.

The show will feature works by students in all of the art classes along with video production, wood shop, architecture and drafting.

The top pieces in each genre will be placed in the upcoming Manteca Unified’s “Best of the Best” 2013 District Art Show and Sale.

Featured will be the exceptional art works of students from the other MUSD high schools on Tuesday, April 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the District Office board room (room 101-102).
