Three men were detained and two were arrested Friday morning in an attempt to extend a motel stay with credit cards that had been stolen in an auto burglary Thursday night in the 200 block of Primrose Avenue.

Officer Mike Espinosa responded to a call from the motel reporting the fraudulent use of the cards in the 100 block of Northwoods Avenue just north of East Yosemite Avenue.

Sgt. Mike Sexon said that Neil Stanley Baker, 29, of Tracy, and Vinny Dean Talarico, 21, of Manteca were charged with the thefts from a Honda Civic that included a wrist watch and the owner’s identification cards that were in his wallet.

A third man was handcuffed at the scene early on who sat on the lawn of the motel with a woman and a small child.  He was later released by officers.

Charges included possession of stolen property, burglary and conspiracy, police said.  They were taken to San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp but as of press time Friday no bail amount had been set or a future court date for the pair.
