Bicycle rodeos offered by the Ripon Police Department underscore safety of the community’s school children.   Officer Trevor McGinnis directed the first event at Ripon Elementary School yesterday with others to follow on May 1 through May 15.

McGinnis along with other officers and VIPS volunteers watched as school children demonstrated their abilities of riding their bicycles through a cone course on the school playground.  The participants were advised that every rider under 18 must wear a bicycle helmet.

With the bicycle riding season fast approaching, they asked that parents ensure their children be equipped with the proper bicycle helmets and see that they make use of them.

The rodeo events to come will cover one hour between 2:15 and 3:15 in the afternoons.  Ripona Elementary is scheduled for next week.  Parkview Elementary’s rodeo is set for May 8 and Weston Elementary on May 15.

For further information contact School Recourse officer Trevor McGinnis at 599-2102.
