Valentina Toscano Mendoza, 81, passed away Sept. 20, 2009 with her family at her side at her residence in Manteca. She was born on July 4, 1928 in Michoacan, Mexico to the late Juan Valencia Toscano and Agapita Vidrio Toscano.

She is survived by her children, Audel Mendoza, Fernando Mendoza, Gloria Mendoza, and Genoveva Mendoza, all of Manteca, Arturo Mendoza of Modesto, Adan Mendoza and Miguel Mendoza of Salida, Antonio Mendoza of Weston Ranch, Sofia Mendoza of Michoacan, Mexico; siblings, Merced Toscano, Baltazar Toscano, Salvador Toscano, Loronza Toscano, Teresa Toscano, Margarita Toscano, Liandro Toscano; 30 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Fernando Mendoza.

Valentina was a friendly and loving person. She loved and was devoted to her family and loved to cook for her family and have family gatherings. She loved working in the garden, planting flowers. She enjoyed traveling with her siblings and her daughters. She loved to watch soap operas on television. She loved taking walks and being outdoors. She was easy to talk to and was always giving to her family and friends. She always had special gifts for the children. She was a devout Catholic, a prayerful person. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and friend.

Visitation will be 2 days, Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 1 to 5 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 24, from 1 to 7 p.m. The Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road.

Mass will be Friday, Sept. 25, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 19399 E. Highway 120, Ripon. Final resting place is St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, 17871 S. Carrolton Road, Escalon. Remembrances may be made in Valentina’s name to the American Cancer Society, 207 E. Alpine Ave., Stockton, CA 95204.
