RIPON — It was a tale of two halves Wednesday at Mistlin Park.

Unfortunately for the previously unbeaten Indians, Riverbank’s half was a bit more productive and the Bruins walked away with a big 3-2 win.

Down 2-0 at half, Alec Vitale made it 2-1 off a Bryant Macias help in the 44th minute.

Justin Scott pulled Ripon to within one again in the 75th minute thanks to a help from Matty Gay.

“Riverbank had the upper hand to start, and I felt we played a bit tentative,” Ripon head coach Jamie DeBruyn said. “Their team speed caught us off guard, we weren’t prepared for it.”

DeBruyn said the Indians played well, and that both sides had their opportunities, but Riverbank was able to convert.

“Their first goal was a mistake on our part, as was (their third),” DeBruyn said. “We knew it was going to be a battle.”

Ripon must now turn its attention toward Escalon, which has won six straight contests over the Indians in the past two seasons.

“That’s going to be a bounce back game for us,” DeBruyn said.

Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. Monday at Mistlin.
