Jamie Beck finished with 26 kills and impressed Sierra head coach Tevani Liotard, but in the end it would be another Liotard, Jaslynn, who would lead the Timberwolves to an important bounce-back win, 25-23, 22-25, 20-25, 25-19, 15-9, over Ceres Wednesday.

Liotard finished the night with 14 kills, six blocks, 10 service points and three aces. Down 4-7 in Game 5 and Michelle Arroyo at the endline, Liotard sent home three straight kills to tie the contest.

“Jaslynn had a really good game,” coach Liotard said. “She was getting up there and hitting around Beck.”

Nicole Sylvester took over at the stripe in Game 5 with the score knotted at eight and sent home four straight winners to seize the momentum.

Sylvester finished with 23 service points and eight digs, all told, and served up six straight points down 5-7 in Game 4, another momentum stealing string that the T’Wolves capitalized on.

Sierra Talles finished with five kills, and Alysia Atkins had 10 to go along with six points and a pair of aces.

Chelsea Bereta had six kills, 11 digs, 11 points and three aces, and Modesty Rodriguez was the anchor again, this time with 26 assists, five points and an ace.

“It was definitely nice to pull this one out, especially coming off the Sonora loss,” coach Liotard said. “Modesty busted her butt. She was getting everything.”

Sierra (2-1 Valley Oak League, 7-2 overall) laces them up tonight for a huge home tilt with Oakdale.

Oakdale 3, Weston Ranch 0

The Cougars took their Mustang lumps Wednesday, 2-25, 10-25, 16-25.

Sidney Carter had five kills and two blocks, and Gretchen Monares turned in an ace.

Andrea Vega had 10 digs, and Anais Castiloo turned in seven assists.

Oakdale’s sophomores (25-17, 25-17) and freshmen (25-16, 25-19) both won in two.
