COPS: MOM CHECKED MEDICAL WEBSITE AFTER SON SHOT: SANTA FE, Texas (AP) — A Southeast Texas woman is facing a felony charge for allegedly delaying hospital treatment of her teenage son's gunshot wound until she researched treatment options online.

The incident happened Tuesday evening at the family's home in Santa Fe, about 30 miles southeast of Houston. Police say a friend of the 14-year-old son was playing with a handgun and pointed it at him when it went off, wounding the boy in the thigh.

Police say the boy and his mother, Deborah Tagle, delayed seeking hospital treatment for hours until she researched gunshot wounds on the WebMD website. He's now stable condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

Tagle was arrested Friday and freed on bond. She's charged with injury to a child.

COUPLE CHARGED WITH TRASHING OFFICE AFTER DOG DIES: MIAMI (AP) — A California couple has been charged after police say they trashed a Miami pet hospital after their dog died during surgery.

Miami police say 31-year-old Alejandra Zavaleta and 34-year-old Edwin Vargas of Oakland  took their American bulldog, Reyes, for surgery last month at Banfield Pet Hospital.

When staff told them the dog had died, an arrest report says the couple became extremely violent and broke computers, printers, window blinds and other medical equipment. The damage was valued at more than $5,000.

200 SICKENED AFTER DINING AT VEGAS RESTAURANT: LAS VEGAS (AP) — A new report shows 200 people who dined at one of Las Vegas' most popular restaurants about a block off the Strip have reported food poisoning symptoms, making it the largest outbreak southern Nevada health officials have seen in at least a decade.

Sick patrons who dined at Firefly, a tapas restaurant on Paradise Road, in late April hailed from 20 different states and two foreign countries, according to a report released Friday by the Southern Nevada Health District. There are likely many more cases that have gone unreported.
