Manteca Library could use bonus bucks

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,

The Manteca Public Library sure could use some of those bonus bucks and more!

Having served on the last Manteca Library Task Force (2007-2008), we know that our city needs an expanded or new library especially with all the explosive growth we’ve had in the past few decades.

A new library may be a ways away. But, some bonus bucks invested in the library will have a guaranteed great benefit. It’s usually $8 for every $1 invested in the public library. That’s money invested in the community’s hub for reading, learning, accessing the Internet for those without access, putting resumes together, applying for college or jobs, literacy programs, etc.

Some of those Bonus Bucks could fund:

• 1. A technology (AV) upgrade for the community room

• 2. Adult Literacy Programs (too many adults read below a 4th grade level)

• 3. Restrooms renovation

• 4. Seeding an endowment for the library

Imagine if $500,000 of that money could seed an endowment for the library?

That could generate $25,000 to $50,000 in revenue for the current or future library per year.

Thanks always for keeping the community informed.
