WESTON RANCH – Despite a 24-0 home loss to Tokay to finish off a 1-2 preseason, Weston Ranch head coach Mike Hale had a number of positives come out of Friday’s contest that the Cougars can now build on heading into the Valley Oak League season.

Deon Eley gained 56 yards on 11 carries as the previously dormant ground game started to show signs of life, and Ronnie Collins passed for 111 yards on 11 completions.

With the score knotted at zero heading into the third, Zach McCurdy broke off a 54-yard run and Michael Hernandez (151 yards) followed it up with a 41 yard score of his own.

Dave Ramirez added an 11-yard touchdown in the fourth.

Big plays allowed on defense and too many three-and-outs on offense ultimately told the tale.

Weston Ranch recovered three fumbles, and Embry Allen picked off McCurdy.
