Two City of  Manteca workers had a sigh of relief when their white Sierra GMC pickup truck was located by police officers at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of East Alameda Street.

The truck had been stolen when the workers were in a vacant lot in the 700 block of North Grant Avenue at about 10:30 Thursday morning – three hours earlier.  While they were surveying their work assignment and away from the truck, they told officers they saw someone jump into the vehicle and drive it up the street.

The truck was found with everything intact.  Nothing had been stolen, officers said, including the license plates that were still on the truck.  Police assumed it was only a case of joyriding by the individual who drove it off from the city workers.

A Nixel alert had been issued to members of the general public to be on the lookout for the white truck, with black lumber rack and diamond tool box in the bed with a request to call police if it were seen.
