James McDonald Sr., 71, died Sunday, September 27, 2009. He was born on December 2, 1937 in Ada, Oklahoma to the late W.E. and Essie B. McDonald. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, the late Colleen McDonald. He lived in Manteca and surrounding area for 62 years. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves.

Mr. McDonald is survived by his children, James McDonald and wife Cheryl Patzer of Sacramento, and Carla Duarte of Manteca; siblings, LaJune Gauber and husband Roland of Newcastle and Billy McDonald and wife Marion of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jake McDonald, Halifax of Nova Scotia, Sam McDonald of Sacramento and Alex Duarte of Manteca. He was preceded in death by his siblings, the late Homer McDonald, Charles McDonald, Houston McDonald, Clarence McDonald and Dillard McDonald.

James was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a love for yard work and could fix just about anything. His love for John Deere made him one of the best tractor mechanics. He loved his nieces and nephews like they were his own. He was truly loved by many.
Memorial service will be Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 10 a.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. Final resting place will be private.
