RIPON — After Tuesday’s nerve-wracking, five-game barnburner against Escalon, Ripon had what was a nice breather by comparison on Thursday.

It took visiting Hughson three games to match Ripon’s total in just one, as the Indians cruised, 25-11, 25-6, 25-8 while stretching their Trans Valley League winning streak to 30.

“We played pretty well,” Keethe said. “We made our share of ugly plays, but overall played well. They didn’t let down.”

Cheyann Deprue wrapped up her outstanding week with a match-high 14 kills. On Tuesday, she finished with 23. Ashley Robinson churned out four blocks at the net, and Paulina Ceja paced the back row with five digs.

Standout setter Kelsey Johnston racked up 10 aces and 21 assists despite getting pulled from the match early in the second game.

Keethe was glad to see that there was no drop off from the starters to the reserves. Outside hitter Coryn Hernandez missed her second straight match because of a broken hand.

“Sarah Stanger did a great job in Kelsey’s place,” Keethe said. “Everybody played well tonight.”

Ripon (6-0, 19-5 overall) next takes on Modesto Christian in Salida Tuesday.
