Editor , The Manteca Bulletin;

It was the extraordinary privilege and pleasure of my wife Linda and me to have visited Manteca over the recent Memorial Day weekend as the personal guest of Pastor Mike Dillman of The Place of Refuge Church to be able to participate in and witness the incredible outpouring of support and patriotism for the Memorial Weekend from your citizens in Manteca and the surrounding area.

 I am a guy who is a fellow Vietnam veteran with Pastor Dillman and I have experienced many Memorial Day commemorations, but never any quite like the one in Manteca. It ran the width and breadth of a program at the pastor’s church to help raise the needed funds, to the Wounded Warrior Christopher Braley 5K run, to the Gold Star Family Reception, to the warm and touching 12th panel tribute dedicated to Navy Corpsman James Layton, and to the myriad of family events at Woodward Park.

 It was truly a grand testimony to the All-American community that I now know Manteca to be. Several times I commented that if I were ever to move from Texas, a place such as Manteca would be a town in which I would be proud to reside. Manteca did itself proud in honoring our fallen warriors.
