The Manteca Diamondbacks rolled to a 12-1 four-inning win over the Weston Ranch Cardinals on Saturday in opening-round action of the Little League District 67 Minors Tournament of Champions at Mossdale Landing Community Park in Lathrop.

 The top four spots in the batting order accounted for nine of the Diamondbacks runs with, Garren Genilla knocking in three runs on two doubles and scoring twice, Grant Houle hitting an RBI double and scoring once, William Rocha belting a two-RBI single and scoring twice and leadoff batter Isaac Searcy walking and scoring twice. Matthew Murray and Diego Arroyo each added an RBI single.

 Houle and Searcy split the pitching duties for the Diamondbacks and allowed just one hit.

Joel Yuson scored for the Cardinals when he walked and came around to score on three wild pitches. Only one other Weston Ranch player made it as far as third base.

 Manteca plays Salida on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and Weston Ranch faces Mountain House in an elimination contest today at 5:30 p.m.

Tracy 16, Lathrop 4

The Tracy National Rockies pounded the Lathrop Giants into the consolation bracket with a 16-4 win.

 Jaydin Cruz had two-run home run for the Giants while Jaime Ornelas doubled and Tyler Moe had an RBI single.

 Lathrop faces either Patterson or Northgate on Tuesday in an elimination contest.

Majors

Northgate 11, Salida 4



The Northgate A’s bounced back from a heartbreaking 5-4 opening-round loss to Tracy American on Saturday with a convincing 11-4 win over the Salida Rockies at Jefferson School in Tracy.

 Trying to conserve pitchers for later in the tournament, Noah Garcia came in to pitch for the A’s with two outs in the sixth and did his job – he induced a flyout to himself on his first pitch to end the game.

 Brayden Hardcastle led Manteca with a two-run home run and a triple, going 2 for 3. Teammate Scotty Armstrong homered and had a double in a 2-for-2 outing, Dan Ruiz was 3 for 4 and Eric Victoria doubled.

 The A’s face Lathrop today at 5:30 p.m. in an elimination game.

 

Juniors

Manteca 17, Mountain House 5

The Manteca Orioles eliminated the Mountain House Cubs with a 17-5 six-inning thumping at Paul Weston Park.

 Jonathan Shaefer led the Orioles onslaught by knocking in nine runs, going 4 for 4 with three triples and an RBI on a sacrifice. Gerson Gomez doubled and went 4 for 5, Jesse Espetia was 3 for 4 with two doubles, Josh Blair was 3 for 4 with a double and Tyler Welch was 2 for 4 with a double.

 Manteca faces either Weston Ranch or Spreckels Park today in an elimination contest at 7 p.m.
