Manteca man faces rape, kidnap & torture charges

A 20-year-old Manteca man is in San Joaquin County Jail facing seven felony and one misdemeanor charges with total bail set at nearly $1 million.

One of the felony charges involved unlawful intercourse with a minor under the age of three. The other felony charges are torture, kidnapping, rape, corporal injury to a child, and terrorist threats. The misdemeanor charge is battery on a former spouse.

Dereck Paul Landry was arrested by Manteca Police and booked in San Joaquin County Jail on Saturday, June 15, based on the above charges. The condition of the young rape victim was unknown as of press time.

No other details about the suspect is known as of this time. His first appearance in San Joaquin Superior Court Manteca Branch took place on Monday.

His total bail was set at $918,000.
