BODY FOUND IN TRASH CAN DUMPED IN REMOTE OC AREA: BREA (AP) — Authorities say a driver made a grisly discovery in the Orange County city of Brea — a body in a trash can.

The body of 46-year-old Jose Paredes of Santa Ana was found Friday on the side of Brea Canyon Road near a wooded area.

Police say the motorist had seen the green trash container for about week before deciding to investigate. The driver called police after seeing what appeared to be human hands in the bin.

An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death. However, investigators are treating it as a homicide.

FBI SEEKS 'CHUBBY CHEEKS BANDIT': SANTA ANA (AP) — Authorities have released surveillance photos of a female bank robbery suspect, dubbed the Chubby Cheeks Bandit, who held up a Chase branch in Santa Ana.

FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller says during the robbery June 17 the suspect demanded cash from the teller, shouting, "Give me your money! I need money!"

The photos show the suspect wearing a checkered shirt, jeans, hat and sunglasses when she committed the holdup.

She described as a white woman in her late 20s, 5-foot-3 and weighing about 170 pounds.

Witnesses told investigators she has chubby cheeks.

MARRIAGE, THE SEQUEL FOR 'STAR WARS' CREATOR LUCAS: LOS ANGELES (AP) — It's marriage, episode II for George Lucas.

A Lucasfilm spokeswoman confirms the "Star Wars" creator married longtime girlfriend Mellody Hobson in a weekend ceremony at Skywalker Ranch north of San Francisco.

It's the second wedding for the 69-year-old Lucas, who was married to film editor Marcia Lucas from 1969 to 1983.

It's the first marriage for Hobson, 44, an investment firm president and contributor to ABC's "Good Morning America." The two have dated since 2006. Former U.S. Sen. Bill Bradley walked her down the aisle.

The Saturday afternoon ceremony was performed by journalist Bill Moyers, who was once a Baptist minister.

Guests included filmmakers Steven Spielberg and Ron Howard, who said on Twitter that the wedding was "a joy to behold" and Moyers' service "nothing short of profound."

WANTED MAN ARRESTED AFTER 7-HOUR OCEAN STANDOFF: CORONADO (AP) — A wanted man who held off police by standing in the ocean off San Diego County for seven hours has finally been arrested.

Coronado police say the man, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs, was taken into custody shortly before 5:30 a.m. Monday. His name hasn't been released.

Police went to arrest the man near the Hotel Del Coronado shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday on a felony warrant alleging drug violations.

The man fled, running shirtless into the ocean and threatening to kill anyone who got near. He waded and swam near the surfline for hours while police waited him out.

Authorities say he finally was taken into custody and was treated for hypothermia.

GIRL, 6, ESCAPES ALLEGED ABDUCTION ATTEMPT IN PARK: ARCADIA (AP) — Authorities arrested a man after he allegedly tried to abduct a 6-year-old girl from a Southern California park.

The girl was playing in a picnic area in Arcadia on Sunday when a man, described as a transient, dragged her about 100 feet.

Sheriff's officials say the girl screamed and yelled and fought the man off.

The girl ran to her mother, who called police.

WOMAN FOUND DEAD IN LANCASTER IS IDENTIFIED: LANCASTER (AP) — A woman found dead in Lancaster has been identified, and authorities are trying to locate her boyfriend, who they say is "person of interest" in the case.

City News Service says 45-year-old Lidia Castillo was found dead Sunday night at the home she shared with her boyfriend.

Family members called authorities since Castillo had not been heard from for several days.

The cause of death will have to be determined by an autopsy. Los Angeles County Sheriff's officials say it's unclear if foul play was involved.

 

Thirty-three-year-old Jason Dell was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and held in lieu of $400,000 bail..
