The Manteca and Northgate major-division all-stars lock horns tonight in the winners-bracket semifinal after each club won their first two Little League District 67 Tournament games over the weekend. First pitch is scheduled for 7 at Paul Weston Park in Stockton.

With several of its players coming off a title run in the District 67 Tournament of Champions, Manteca opened all-star action with a blowout win over Tracy American and a come-from-behind thriller against host Weston Ranch.

Jacob Moon pitched Manteca to a mercy-shortened 11-1 triumph, giving up just three hits while striking out eight. Chase Costa and Ferrin Manuleleua each rapped three hits. Dylan Gross blasted a two-run homer in the fourth.

Manteca trailed for every inning except for the last in the Weston Ranch game. Weston Ranch led 3-0 after the second inning and remained going into the bottom of the sixth, 4-2. Gross stroked a solo shot in the fourth, and Costa smacked an RBI single to close Manteca in. Manteca strung together five straight singles to score three runs in the decisive final inning.

Gross went 3 for 3 to lead the attack. Manteca used four pitchers, and reliever Roy Samaniego came through with clutch offerings as he retired two batters with the bases loaded in the fifth.

Northgate prevailed in two one-run ballgames.

On Saturday, Brayden Hardcastle pitched a 13-strikeout no-hitter in a 2-1 win over Lathrop. Andrew Mount’s two-run double supplied Hardcastle with all the offensive support he needed.

Northgate was again tested Sunday, squeaking past Salida, 6-5. This time, Mount was the hero from the mound. He came into a sticky situation in a relief role, with runners in scoring position and two out. Mount survived the threat by causing a popup.

Daniel Ault, Doran Nourn, Fernando Segura and Mount each drove in a run. Mount also had two hits and plated two runs.
