Deep Singh and his brother Gure are excited about opening their Shell gas station on East Yosemite Avenue a block away from the Highway 99 freeway entrances.

Deep will manage the operation while his brother is only here from Fresno to help with the setup and opening of the facility.

“All the time is low price for gas – all the time it is cheaper,” Deep promised from the counter of his convenience store.

“You look at other stations where the gas is low and you find higher prices inside the store,” he stressed.  “Our prices inside the store are low, too,” he said, adding that their Visa prices are five to 10 cents lower than his competition.

They indicated that a debit card is treated the same as cash.

He explained that the Moon Star, Rock Star and Gatorade drinks are two for $3 while the 1.5 liter bottles of Aquafina waster is priced to get one free with the purchase of the first bottle.

Deep said he opens the store at 4 a.m. with his passion for a successful operation, with his brother coming to work about 10 a.m. and working until midnight.

“I love this work and these people who come in to buy here.  When customers are happy they will come again,” he insisted.  As for hobbies, he said, “My hobby is working here cleaning the store and cleaning the restrooms and talking to everyone when they come in the store.”

While only open a couple weeks, Deep said he has mostly enjoyed the tourists from around the country and from foreign soils that come in and chat with him about the wonders of California and of Yosemite.

He said his customers are the most important and he wants to treat them well so they will come back and buy what they need.

Gure will soon be going back to his home and the business he manages in Fresno among the some 20 stores they manage in that general area.

As for the best prices, Deep said he is proud of what he is offering to the Manteca community including the ice that goes for 99 cents for a small bag and $1.99 for the large bag.
