Dolphins fall to Turlock for first tri-meet defeat

The Manteca Dolphins suffered their first head-to-head defeat in the Mid-Valley Swim League season Saturday at Sierra High, falling short against the first-place Turlock Seadogs 1,580 to 1,470.50. The Tracy Tritons finished third with 1,125 points.

Manteca next hosts Ceres on Saturday, June 13 before the June 20 MVSL Championships at Lathrop High.

Ashlynn See and Scott Tolman picked up big points for the Dolphins Saturday, as they were each involved in five first-place finishes. See racked up wins in the 7-8-year-old girls 50-yard freestyle, 25 free and 25 backstroke and was on the victorious 100 free and 100 medley relays. Tolman dominated the 13-14 boys division, topping the field in the 100 free, 50 breaststroke and 50 free. He was also on the first-place 200 free and 200 medley relays teams along with multi-event winner Johnny Buonauro (100 IM, 50 back).

Hayden Beier rolled to three wins in individual events, claiming the 50 free, 25 breast and 25 free in 7-8 boys. Mallory Brubaker earned first in the 11-12 girls 100 individual medley, 100 free and 200 free relay. Garrett Kmiec triumphed in the 11-12 boys 100 IM and 100 free, and Nancy Enriquez conquered the 100 free and 50 fly in the 13-14 girls category.

Others contributing first-place points were Lena Torrey (6-under girls 50 free), Delaney Brubaker (7-8 girls, 25 fly), Kelly Ball (11-12 girls, 50 fly), Gwen Berry (11-12 girls, 50 breast), Ace Basile (6-under boys, 25 back), McKeane Beier (6-under boys, 25 breast), Gabriel Monasterio (7-8 boys, 25 back), Giovanni Padilla (11-12 boys, 50 free), Trevor Allen (13-14 boys, 50 fly), Daniel Calderini (17-18 boys, 100 back).
