Manteca resident Will Brink struggled in the second round of stroke play in the 88th U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship on Tuesday, recording an uncharacteristic 11-over-par 81 to finish in 116th place with a two-day total of 152.

The top 64 placers move on to the match-play portion of the event, which resumes today at Laurel Hill golf Club in Lorton, Va.

The UC Davis-bound Brink ended with four straight bogeys, including a double on the 614-yard, par-five 15th hole. His first-day score of 71 had him in a 39th-place tie and in good position to advance.

Canadian Garrett Rank was low medalist at 8-under 132 over 36 holes. Oklahoman Ian Davis finished two back for the second seed, and University of the Pacific golfer Eric Sugimoto, who hails from San Diego, ended up third with a 135 after carding a record-tying 63 on Monday.
