FESM steak & oyster dinner
The FESM Steak and Oyster dinner is set for Saturday, Nov. 7, at the FESM Hall at 240 N. Main St.

No host cocktails are at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and dancing from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. with the music provided by Manuel Jacinto.  Tickets are $30 per adult and $15 for children ages 6-12.  Those interested can call Carlos & Melissa at 825-5089.

Astro Wizard at library on Oct. 21
The Manteca Branch Library will host The Astro Wizard, Dave Rodrigues at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21.

The Astro Wizard will present a humorous, energetic and entertaining program that will forever change the way we all see the sky.
Rodrigues is a lecturer at Morrison Planetarium and at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, and is also the program director of the East Bay Astronomical Society at Chabot Space and Science Center in Oakland.

He’s excited to teach kids about the fun surrounding astronomy.

This free program is provided through the generosity of the Friends of the Manteca Library.

The Manteca Branch Library is a part of the Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library and is located at 320 W Center St, Manteca.

Artist Guild show & sale on Nov. 1
The eighth annual Manteca Artist Guild show and sale will be held Sunday, Nov. 1, from noon to 4 p.m. The public is invited and admission is free.

Featured will be the original creations of various artists in the area including oils, pastels, watercolors and other media. Most of these will be on sale. Other attractions will include raffle prizes and other giveaways

This is also an opportunity for anyone interested in the arts to find out more about this organization and how to join.

Drive-thru tri-tip dinner on Nov. 7
The Place of Refuge on Saturday, Nov. 7, is conducting a drive-thru tri-tip dinner to raise money for their School of Leadership Training.

Meals can be picked up on Nov.  7 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Place of Refuge, 486 Button Ave.,  in Manteca.

The meal includes cherry wood-smoked tri-tip, garlic mashed potatoes, salad, corn on the cob, and a brownie. Tickets may be purchased at Place of Refuge or by calling (209) 239-1371. The cost is $9 for one meal, or $15 for two meals.

Drive to help mentally disabled
The local Knights Columbus will be having a fundraising drive this weekend – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – to help people with intellectual disabilities in the Manteca area.

Members will be taking a collection in front of local supermarkets, with all funds benefiting Manteca Community Assistance Programs and Camp La Honda, a program of the Catholic Diocese of Stockton.

All donations are tax deductible.

The latter is a two-week summer camp at Tuolumne Trails in Groveland. One week is set aside for children and young adults, and the second week for adults with special needs.
