Kenneth K. Jones passed away peacefully at his home on July 18, 2013. He was born in McIntosh, Oklahoma on September 17, 1931 to parents Ben and Mary Jones. Ken was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Carla Jones and son Michael Wills. He is survived by his children, daughter Kathleen Brandt (Mitch) of Stockton, daughter Ellie Pedraza (Rich) of Manteca, son Jim Jones of Colorado, son Bruce Jones (Patricia) of Lodi, son Mike Jones of Maryland, daughter-in-law Connie Wills of Spring Valley, brother Dave Jones (Edna) and sister Bobbie Jones, of Oklahoma. He had 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Ken was raised and attended school in Eufaula, Oklahoma. He served in the Oklahoma National Guard and did a tour overseas during the Korean War. Following his discharge, Ken settled in Manteca, where he raised his family and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. He retired in 1992 and immediately started volunteering in numerous organizations in Manteca. He was involved with the local chapter of AA and was instrumental in establishing a local chapter of the Alano Club. He spent many years volunteering at the Manteca Food Bank and was a strong supporter of the Three Rivers Indian Lodge. Ken was proud of his Native American heritage and was a member of the Cherokee tribe.

In his later years, Ken was a fixture in his neighborhood, where you could count on seeing him walking his dog Buster, or working in his yard tending to all his flowers and his wonderful garden. If not working in his yard, you would catch him reclining in his favorite spot waving to all his neighbors who passed by. Ken was a kind and gentle man and will be missed by his family and all who had the honor to know him.

In keeping with Ken’s wishes, there will be no service. In honor of Ken, his family asks that any memorial on his behalf be made in the form of a donation to the Three Rivers Indian Lodge, PO Box 1552, Manteca, CA 95336. Please sign the online guestbook at frisbiewarrencarrollmortuary.com.
